Simplon is a training organization specializing in professional retraining, with a mission to combat the digital divide. As part of expanding its range of training courses, the organization set up a Real Time 3D / AR / VR application development course in partnership with Meta at the national level. The goal was to teach learners the design, development, and maintenance of these types of applications.
I had the opportunity to join this course as a Unity trainer, working in Nice and Marseille. I was able to supervise 15 students on a daily basis in Nice during an intensive four-month period. This period was then followed by an alternating phase during which I continued to supervise 18 students in Nice and Marseille, 7 of whom were already under my tutelage during the intensive period.
My objective was to train these students in the basics of the Unity engine and its use for the development of ambitious and innovative 3D applications. In accordance with a reference framework established as part of the national program, my aim is to help them acquire the skills necessary to obtain a Simplon certification and an official Unity certification.
One of the main challenges was teaching the fundamental development concepts of these applications to learners who were completely novices in the field. To overcome this challenge, I had to design a learning program suitable for both the provided framework and the heterogeneous level of the different learners.
